Set An Intention For Your Business And Watch It Grow

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it. -W. Clement Stone

Have you made the choice to create your ideal business and now waiting for clients to come to you? Feel that you have tried everything to bring in clients, doing everything you are supposed to be doing, and still there is no response? Putting in more hours per day now that you have your own business than you did when you were working at a J-O-B.

So much needs to be put in place as a new business and getting clients is one of the items highest on the list. Having potential clients contact you validates this was the right choice to make. When I first started my practice I subscribed to the Field of Dreams, build it and they will come.

What the field of dreams did not tell me was building a business was only half the secret. Of course you have to have a service, but you also need to take specific actions to help your ideal clients recognize you have the solutions to their problems.

Now I can talk about determining your ideal client, the need to market consistently and creating a pull marketing system to round out your marketing strategy. Each of those pieces is integral for your business to get started.

But I have found that I can talk strategy with my clients all day long and if there is any doubt about ability to make this work, then the best laid efforts will not help you to achieve the true success you desire.

With that being said, it is mindset which is the key to having a successful business or not. You need to truly believe in what you are doing, utilize your unique talents and maintain positive intentions.

It will be challenging at times, especially when you are getting started. A positive mindset, even when it is challenging and uncomfortable, is crucial. In my opinion, having a positive mindset is more important than marketing.

Imagine yourself marketing and networking, but you have some worries in the back of your mind. Maybe you are not taking yourself seriously, you are too worried about where your next client will come from and focused on how long it is taking to get your next client. All of these things will affect your marketing efforts. Subconsciously you are very aware of what is not going well. This creates a subtle energy which can be picked up on by others. Any doubt you might have will come through and impact all of your marketing efforts.

Clear all doubts, worries or sabotaging behaviors if you want your business to take off. This is easier for some than for others, but is possible. So often, however, you might not even be aware of what is holding you back and the real reason for your fears. In order to release all of the doubts and truly create a positive mindset focused on success, you might need help and the insight of someone else to get to the root cause.

Are you sure you are in the right business? Let’s face it none of us know it all. We all need support and input to help us make it work. If you are doing it all yourself, then progress will be very difficult because you are likely spending a lot of the day doing work that is not your best work.

Many times you have listened to someone who was well intentioned. Then you end up creating a business based on someone else’s advice. You begin to question your ideas. Now you are compromising your dreams. That person’s ideas were out of integrity with your vision. The end result is a business not well suited for you.

Input is necessary; however, trust your intuition. You are going to get loads of advice from well-intentioned people. Take the advice which you agree with and leave the rest behind. Your instincts will always lead you in the right direction. Trust your gut or find someone you trust to assist you. The bottom line, however, is creating something that is uniquely yours.

You have been given special gifts and talents. If you know what they are, you are ahead of the game.

Discover your unique talent, acknowledge what you do best and then find a way to honor your gift. Your talent will come naturally to you. Because it is so easy for you, there is a tendency to undervalue it and even give it away. Use your gifts to help others. Recognize the value you bring to other people’s lives when you help them in this way. This is the heart of creating a purpose-based practice.

The most important piece about mindset is making sure your intentions are positive. By listening to people’s goals and intentions, I can tell immediately whether it is positive or not. So often people set an intention, trying to manifest a dream, but not getting the results they want.

Take the time to really pay attention to your desires. Are they truly positive and focused on moving forward? Possibly your goals are valid, but the words you are using are negative. Instead of trying to move toward a goal instead you are focusing on getting away from something negative. If that is the case, then progress will be very difficult.

If you don’t do anything else, just be aware of your focus. If you are looking at all the problems, you will only see what is not going well. On the other hand if you are focusing on solutions, opportunities will begin to appear. In fact those opportunities are already there, but they are difficult to see when your focus is problem oriented.

Be conscious of your thoughts, they affect your perceptions. In turn your perceptions affect your actions. Your actions affect your success. Choose your focus and feel empowered. Having a sense of inner power will be very client attractive and you will begin having others respond positively to your energy of conscious intention.

Activity: This might appear like nit-picking, but write down your words, say them out loud and listen. See if there are any negative words i.e. don’t, won’t, not. If so, then you are actually setting a negative intention.

See if you can reframe your goal only using positive words. The semantics and words you choose are extremely important. There is a different energy, or vibration, when you are trying to get away from a problem instead of trying to move toward a solution.

Client Retention Tips: How to Show You Care By Staying in Touch

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

In order to retain clients and build a sustainable business, you must stay in touch with people in a meaningful way. This includes people you have done business with, people you have met in person at events and your email subscriber list.

Your client base has a sacred contract with you. They have connected, spent money, and spent time with you. You must care enough to keep in touch with them.

Advertising experts have proven time and time again, that ads that run continuously, at least three times, always outperform one-shot ad runs. The same is true with your client base. Find a way to reach them, share your message, and consistently stay connected.

For coaches, consultants, healers, and other helping professionals, newsletters are one of the best ways to stay in touch. It is important to shift your mindset and action from not wanting to bother your client base, which is a common mistake that new business owners make.

Just as most new business owners commonly do, I used to say, “People have just given me their name, I don’t want to bother them and send them things all the time.” I had to recognize that touching their lives in a meaningful way allows the cream to rise to the top. Those who are truly interested in what you have to say and the solutions you offer will make themselves known to you. The rest may unsubscribe or walk away from you, but that means they really weren’t engaged or dedicated to your message anyway.

Approaching marketing this way saves you time, effort, and money. Instead of chasing people who may or may not be interested or ready for your offerings, let the people who need you most identify themselves to you. Don’t worry about the others. They will let you know when they are ready or simply opt-out if they are not interested.

My newsletter continually gets better readership when I write more often and when I provide a more personal touch about my family, my dog, or my travels. When I first started doing my newsletter, I did it once a month and about 35% of the people opened it and read it. Now I do my newsletter weekly, and I have sometimes up to 85% open it up and read it. It just proves that if you’re consistent and really share meaningful content, people will want more of it. They will want more of you!

Newsletters are only one way to stay in touch with your clients, prospects or business contacts, but they are a great place to start. Depending on your business and the people you serve, there are dozens of other ways to touch the lives of your clients in a meaningful way.

Once you’ve started regularly sending out an email newsletter, consider mailing out occasional physical newsletters, cards or small gifts to show your appreciation to your clients and contacts. It done authentically and thoughtfully, investments like this will always pay off in spades.

Although there may be specific tactics and media that will work best for your business, niche, and message, the important thing is that you are consistently reaching out to your client base and prospect list in ways that show your dedication to them. Communicating how much you care through an electronic newsletter or any other method of follow up is one of the easiest and most effective ways to grow your business and increase your visibility.

Successful Network Marketing Tip Of The Day – Part One

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Despite what you may have been told, successful network marketing doesn’t have to be hard.  The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t lay in some basic concepts.  For the next few days we will be looking at 5 principles to make your network marketing business a success.

Today’s concept is definitely my favorite.  Believe me, it didn’t begin that way.  In the beginning I was so caught up in all the hype that I ignored this one simple ingredient.  It cost me years of struggle.  To save you from the same struggle I’m going to lay it on the line.

So, do you really want to succeed in network marketing?  I know you do.  It’s why the title of this article caught your attention.  By reading this you at least have an idea of what you need.  But maybe you’re just looking for a shortcut.  Are there shortcuts to success?  You bet there are.

Let’s face it, building a successful network marketing business takes time.  Answer me this.  What do solid buildings start off with?  The Christian Bible tells a story every new business person should come to know.  Perhaps you’ve heard it.  Here is part of it: “The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  Does it sound familiar?  What do solid buildings start off with?  That’s it, a foundation.

Training is our network marketing foundation.  But training is not enough.  Would you ask a poor man for financial advice?  Would you seek tutoring from a failing student?  Would you ask a mechanic to rebuild your computer?  Definitely not, yet many times that’s what we do in the network marketing business.

There is a great deal of information out there.  Information is important.  Many businesses require you to get constant training to keep your license.  Often this training is mandatory.  And network marketing is really no different.  Continued training is a must have.  There will never be a point when you know everything.  Things change so very rapidly.

So, this is the ultimate tip.  That’s why I decided to make it number one.  To get the best information you need to go to the source.  Successful network marketers.  Find those successful network marketers and do what they do.  Ask them for help.  Watch all of their videos.  Subscribe to their newsletters.  Find them on Twitter and watch their every move.  That is how you will find success.

This is your starting point.  This is how you start a solid foundation.  This is where you can find your direction.  Do you want to be a successful network marketer?  Then don’t ever stop learning.  Then never stop your training.  Don’t ever stop (that is a tip for another article).

Successful network marketing has it’s roots in this one simple concept. Do not neglect it. To get the training you need from the top network marketers join us today on this network marketing system.
