The Top 10 Success Tips To Building A Network Marketing Business

Monday, February 1st, 2010

By Mike Klingler

When building a network marketing business there are a number of things you can focus on. However, I have found that there are 10 key success tips to building a network marketing business.

It doesn’t matter whether your focus is on the warm market, lifestyle marketing, business opportunity leads or internet prospecting. Here are the top 10 success tips to building a network marketing business.

#1 – Commit to Self Development

Self development is an ongoing process. It is critical to your success in network marketing. Therefore you need to make a commitment to consistently find time to invest in self development.

#2 – Leads Generation Strategies

More leads equals more money. It doesn’t matter what your approach is to building your network marketing business. It is all about the numbers. You must develop solid leads generation strategies . One reason most network marketers struggle is because they simply don’t have enough people to talk to about their business opportunity.

#3 – Personal Responsibility for Your Network Marketing Success

Another important success tip to building a network marketing business is to take responsibility for your own business. It’s amazing how many distributors will rely on their sponsor or up line for the growth of their business. If your sponsor or up line isn’t responsive, you can still be successful in this business. If your sponsor or up line has a system that is not working for you, find your own system.

#4 – Develop Your Posture

Posture is everything. You need to have a strong posture if you plan on having success in the network marketing business. People are attracted to someone who comes across as a leader. This doesn’t mean that you have to be making a lot of money. However, it does mean that you need to come across as confident with your prospects.

#5 – Mix Knowledge with Action

It’s great to want to learn as much as you can about your business. However, this should never come at the expense of taking the necessary action to build your business. You can have all the knowledge in the world. However, if you don’t take action, the knowledge that you have accumulated will be useless.

#6 – Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

This is one of the biggest mistakes made by network marketing distributors. They look at what others have done in the industry and make comparisons with themselves.

Just because a distributor in your company made $10,000 in her first month doesn’t mean you will. However, just because there are only a few people who have ever earned $10,000 in the first month doesn’t mean that you cannot.

#7 – Qualify Your Prospects

Spend time with the right prospects. Many networkers spend too much time with the wrong prospects. You need to spend time with the prospects who want a business opportunity and not the prospects who need it. For instance, you don’t want to spend your time with prospects who don’t have the money to invest.

#8 – Remain Flexible

We live in the information age and times are changing. Just because one method of building the business worked in the past, that doesn’t mean that it will continue to work forever. You want to remain flexible and open to new ways to build your network marketing business. If you don’t you might find that, either you personally or your team will be left behind in the process.

#9 – Support Your Team

Treat everyone that joins your organization as if you personally sponsored them. Most people that join the business simply won’t treat their business seriously. Therefore you never want to leave your financial future in someone else’s hands.

When a new distributor joins your organization, make sure you call that recruit and verify that they are being properly plugged into your team’s system. If they are not being plugged in properly, take the time out to plug them in properly on your own.

#10 – Give Your Network Marketing Business Time to Grow

Don’t quit too soon. There is story after story of distributors who have quit the business only to find that their organizations have gone on to build massive businesses that they would have had the opportunity to experience had they not given up. Don’t make the same mistake by quitting too soon.

Network Marketing: Tip #2- Some Easy Steps to Professional looking and inexpensive Business Cards

Network Marketing: Tip #2- Some Easy Steps to Professional looking and inexpensive Business Cards

Need more business cards for your network marketing business? Of course you do. But don’t order them from your MLM Company—those prices are marked up several times, and you will be paying much more than you need to.

Instead, do what many others have done: print your own at home, on your own computer and printer. Sounds complicated? It’s not at all—paper and stationery manufacturers have made the process simple to do.

First, purchase a package of blank business cards. These will come in 8-1/2 x 11 sheets, all in a package. The major manufacturer is Avery, but there are others. You can buy them at any office supply store, and your local warehouse club might have a deal on a larger package. Be sure to get the Clean Edge No Perforations style for a professional-looking card edge. You will also need to get the style made for your type of printer, in most cases an ink jet home printer.

Once you are home and ready to start, open Microsoft Word on your computer and start a new blank document. Be sure to save your file, and keep saving after each step.

Here we go:

Click on the Tools drop-down menu

Select Envelopes and Labels

Select Options

Scroll through the list and select your product’s number—it will also say “business cards.”

Now select New Document

Now you’ll see a new document with a grid pattern on your screen. This is your business card template document.

Adding a logo or photo:

Click on the Insert drop-down menu

Select Picture

Select From File

Choose the image you want to use from your files.

Select Insert

Now you’ll see your image in one of your blank business cards. But it’s probably not the size you want. No problem!

Sizing

Hold down the shift key and click on bottom right corner of your image. Stay clicked down and slide the corner in (or out) until your image is the size you want—this will change your image’s size while still maintaining its proportions.

Placing:

If you want to move your image to the top area of the card, press Enter a few times until positioned.

Type in your text along the bottom edge of the card.

Or, put a text box around the image (click on the image, click on the Insert drop-down menu, select Text Box) and the text will move to the right in a column.

Tip: Keep all text and images a smidgen away from the edge of card, otherwise you might have printing problems.

Now you will need to copy your created card into the rest of the boxes on your template sheet.

Click on the Table drop-down menu

Click on Select

Click Cell

Now you’ll see that your created card is highlighted, ready to copy.

Either right-click and select Copy, or click on the Copy icon in your toolbar.

Look at the upper left corner of your document. There you’ll see a tiny box with a little cross/directional sign inside. Click on this box, and your entire document will be highlighted.

Now either right-click and select Paste, or click on the Paste icon in your toolbar.

Go ahead and print now, although I would suggest doing a test print on a plain sheet of paper first, just to make sure everything is lined up correctly. Then put a sheet of business cards (make sure you know which side your printer will print on!), and print away!

Congratulations! You have now created a sheet of business cards, and all it took was a few minutes of your time.

How To Market Your Network Marketing Business

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

One of the crucial factors in success of any business is the ability to market your business. This is especially true of a network marketing business where marketing is the core nature of the business. When it comes to marketing your business, you can take either of the two approaches or even choose to divide your efforts between the two methods.

Traditional Method: This is the method that has been used by millions of owners of network marketing businesses to promote their business. This includes following steps:

  • Creating a database of your contacts: This means preparing a list of virtually all of your family, relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors and other acquaintances. Since these are the people you know, you have a reason to believe that they will either buy from you or become your down-liners.
  • Call your contacts and market your business: Once your list is ready, you start calling each one of them and invite them to participate in a conference about your network marketing business. After the conference, you follow-up by calling them again.
  • Purchase leads or Cold-calling: Once you have exhausted your database, you may ask your up-liner for advice. Your up-liner is likely to recommend that you buy leads or start making cold-calls to unknown people to promote your network marketing business.
  • House-meetings and Free Samples: By this time, if you have not achieved success your mentor may say that you use traditional methods like organizing regular house meetings or distributing free samples of your products.
  • Outdoor marketing: You may be advised by other knowledgeable friends in the network marketing business to resort to outdoor marketing methods, which include distributing flyers and literature in public places, and distributing business cards.
  • Network marketing training: If you are still looking for customers for your business, the company and the top-liners may suggest that you are in need of an mlm training session in a distant city being organized by your network company.

New-Age Method: Traditional method has achieved a lot of success in past decades. However, changes in society have made most of these methods obsolete and anyone resorting to only this method is likely to achieve moderate success in a network marketing business. New-age methods which increase the chances of your success exponentially are:

  • Stop Chasing Everyone: The first rule of new-age method of promoting your business is to stop chasing everyone indiscriminately and especially, stop harassing your friends. You may not get business and you may lose your friends too. This is also one of the reasons why people get put-off by network marketing.
  • Market Yourself: People like to be associated with a person who is a pleasant personality, who is a leader and who they perceive will help them be successful. People do not care much about the products and company. They are more interested in the person. So instead of promoting your network marketing company and its products aggressively, market yourself as a person who can help fulfill your customer’s dreams.
  • Use Technology to promote your business: The internet is one of the most-effective tools for your network marketing business. All successful network marketers fully understand the potential of internet and leverage it to their benefit by:

a)     Creating a content rich website that helps solves various issues and subtly promotes the product.

b)     Using Email and auto-responders as a main tool for communicating as well as following up with your potential customers.

c)     Using articles, blogs, forums, advertising and search engine optimization techniques to reach out to their clients.

d)     Using social networking websites to connect with customers as well as network marketers.

e)     Using the internet to keep you updated on the latest in network marketing businesses to keep ahead of competition.
