Network Marketing: Tip #3- Keeping Your Call Log Organized

Remember Cold Calling is challenging enough without any further complications to reduced your effectiveness as a Network Marketer. Do you have trouble keeping track of who you’ve called when, what they said, or if they answered the phone, if you have to get back to them, or where you got that contact in the first place? Do you need to report on your activity to someone on a regular basis?

Join the club! You, like me, need to keep a call log.

You probably have contacts coming in from a few places, in a variety of formats. Maybe most of them come in from your auto-responder service, but those print out in single sheets of paper for each contact. And I bet that you, just like me, scribble your notes around the edges of those papers.

Join the 21st century—I did! You need to start a Microsoft Excel workbook for your call log. Here’s how!

Open Excel and save your new blank workbook as Call Log 09, or whatever year or month you wish. Now customize your columns and rows. Row 1 (going from left to right, horizontally) will contain your category headers.  You can put these in any order that works for you, but I like it this way:
Column A, Row 1: Time Period of Report
Column B, Row 1: Contact Name
Column C, Row 1: Date Called
Column D, Row 1: Contact Email
Column E, Row 1: Contact Phone
Column F, Row 1: Time Zone
Column G, Row 1: Company
Column H, Row 1: Contact Attempts
Column I, Row 1: Sent to Call (or other action)
Column J, Row 1: Notes
Column K, Row 1: Closing Attempts
Column L, Row 1: Contact Address
Now that you have each of those cells filled in with your headers, it’s good to color them, so you can refer easily to whatever piece of information you want. Click on Column A Row 1, and drag your mouse across that row, all the way to Column L Row 1. Keep that row highlighted (don’t click on it again) and do click on your fill color icon in the tool bar at the top of the page. Choose a color and click on it. Maybe you would also like one section to have a special highlight or its own color, so you can see it instantly—Date Called, maybe. Just click on that one cell, click on the fill color icon again, and choose a different color. And, of course, you can bold the type in your header if you wish.

Depending on where your contact information comes from, you will have to either manually enter it, or (far more preferably) get it downloaded from your auto-responder on a daily basis. This is easy to set up with your auto-responder—if you run into trouble, use their live online help service. You will need the name of  the Excel file you just created.

You will probably want to keep a separate worksheet for each month, or whatever your reporting period is. All you have to do is add a worksheet to your file: Click on the Insert drop-down menu, and select Worksheet. Then copy your original formatted sheet to the new sheet: Click on the cell that is the axis point for both the columns and the rows—this is at the top left corner of your worksheet. Now your entire worksheet will be highlighted, and you can either right-click and select Copy, or click on the Copy icon in your toolbar. Go to your new worksheet—the locater tabs are at the bottom of the workbook—click on that same axis point cell again, and either right-click and select Paste, or click on the Paste icon in your toolbar. Voila!  Now all you have to do is rename each worksheet so that it has a separate name for whatever time period you want (January 09, say, or 9/1 – 9/14): Go to the little tab at the bottom of the page that says Sheet 1 (or Sheet 2, etc.), right-click on it and select Rename. Now you can type in whatever you choose to call that individual worksheet.

You can email your worksheet; you can print it out and fill in by hand; or type in your updated information. Remember, though, if you are printing, be sure to format your file so that it will look okay when printed. Click on the File drop-down menu, and select Page Setup. You will probably want to select Horizontal for Orientation, and you can also adjust your Margins, etc. here.

Imagine how productive you’ll be, and how much time you’ll save!
Good luck!

7 Online Marketing Tips For Beginners

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Here are 7 online marketing tips for beginners.  We all have to start somewhere and there is a learning curve for selling information and products on the internet.  That is why I wanted to provide you with the best online marketing tips that I have developed.

1.)    An online marketing tip that I would advise everyone to take is to take some time to learn a system.  Almost every system can produce results.  Donít go from one system to the next.  Take some time to learn one system.

2.)    Take action!  People get stuck with ìanalysis paralysis.î  Once you have settled on a system and learned the basics, donít be afraid to take action.  Get out there and do it.  If you make mistakes, so be it.  You will have setbacks, but donít worry about it.  Fail fast and fail forward.

3.)    Learn to write sales copy.  Perhaps the most important online marketing tip I can give you is to learn to write sales copy.  There may come a time when you outsource this task to professional copywriters, but knowing the basics yourself will allow you to evaluate their work.  Besides, you probably canít afford to spend thousands of dollars right now on a professional, so learning to do it yourself is important.

4.)    Learn to write articles quickly.  One of the best ways to promote your products is to write articles like this one and submit them to directories.  But, if it takes you 2 hours to write a single article, you will not be able to put out the quantity needed to make money online.  One expert has a system down where he can write articles in just 7 minutes.  While it will probably take you more than that at first, strive to write at least two an hour.  They donít have to pass your 10th grade English teacherís muster, they just have to send people to your site.

5.)    Consider Pay Per Click.  PPC is the quickest way to deliver traffic to your website.  However, if you donít learn how to do it, you can lose your shirt.  If you have a product that you want to start selling right away, PPC is the best avenue for you.  But learn the ins and outs before you bid on high priced, high trafficked keywords.

6.)    Create processes.  You shouldnít re-invent the wheel every time you create a new product or a new web site.  Instead, have a specific system.  Develop your own guide book to setting up a blog or promoting an ebook.  Not only will this save you time in the long run, it will also help you make more money.  This is one of those online marketing tips that so many marketers miss.

7.)    Create value.  Donít think that internet marketing is all about taking your customerís money.  Donít think of your customers as ìmarks.î  Develop relationships with them and provide value to them.  Itís much harder to get an initial customer than have someone who trusts you buy from you again.

So, there are seven online marketing tips to get you going.  Now, go get started!

Successful Network Marketing Tip Of The Day – Part Four

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Successful network marketing takes time and commitment.  Today we will be discussing two concepts that really go hand in hand; branding and providing value.  Appear unrelated?  Then keep reading.  Welcome to tip number four!

Most of the ads on television are all about branding.  Nike’s quote, “Just do it.”  Allstate asks, “Are you in good hands?”  Recognize either of these?  Probably both.

And that’s the whole idea.  It’s what branding is all about.  Being quickly recognized.  Having an idea, image or phrase attached to our name.  You don’t even have to come up with a catchy name or phrase.  Quite a few people just use their own name.  You, inc.  It works.  But that’s not all there is to branding.

You see, in both of those examples the idea is not just to brand a catchy phrase or question.  They are attaching themselves to an idea of value.  What does the phrase “Just do it” really mean?  It may mean something different for you than it does for me.  But here’s the catch.  It has some meaning.  A meaning that for many people is fairly profound.  Sure, it’s a simple statement.  But it’s a powerful message.  Forget your fear and “just do it”.  Go out and “just do it”.  Take control of your life and “just do it”.  Be who you want to be.  We will help.

When you brand yourself as someone who provides value things take on a whole new meaning.  Instead of trying to track clients they will track you down.  People will seek you out for what they need.  People will see you as an expert and somebody with solutions.

Successful network marketing is really just a frame of mind.  Think about this for a moment.  A business that doesn’t provide value doesn’t do business.  It only makes sense and yet too many people do the opposite.  Place yourself in your prospect’s shoes.  Instead of trying to simply sell them some product or service, try to provide solutions to their problems.  Focus on enriching the lives of those around you.  Give without want.  This is what attraction marketing is about.  You become attractive because you are a solution or someone of value.

So, what’s the message here?  Is it that we need to concentrate on branding ourselves?  Or is it that we need to provide value?  It’s both of these.  You brand yourself by providing value.  How do you do just that?  Let’s turn to Nike for that answer to that one.  Just do it!  There are many ways to brand yourself as an expert, as someone of value.  Join some forums relating to your field or niche and start participating in the discussions.  Become part of a questions and answers website and start imparting that knowledge.  Write an article on, oh, successful network marketing.  Go out there and “just do it!”

The bottom line is to make yourself known as somebody that provides value to others.  By providing answers you won’t need to find people with questions, they will find you.  When your goal is simply to help, the world will open up to you.  Give without want and you will get without need.

Take that message to heart.  Keep it as your mantra.  Your business motto.  Your mode of operation.  Give without want.

Successful network marketing really starts when you learn and implement some very basic concepts. Basic and at the same time very important. Don’t know where to start? Let us show you. For more information visit our network marketing system.
