Basic Things To Learn In Business Card Marketing

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Unlike booklet printing or print brochures, your business cards is a marketing tool that you should never be without whenever you go out that door of yours. It might not be as cheap to do as cheap booklet printing.

However, business card printing is THE one thing that can make a big impression on your target clients and leads. Certainly, they are the most common marketing tools in any sales call or business-to-business networking event. Handing out your cards is as standard as having a name for your company. Without them, you are as sure as not to get the success you want for your business.

Remember also that it is the marketing tool to use in getting to know other people, especially those that would help you in your business. It is the marketing tool to help you retain in your mind the people you have met. It is therefore important for you to know the basic elements in business card marketing so you can create the most effective cards in your industry.

It has the key information about you. What makes it especially important are the key details included in the card. You have your most important contact information in there to help your recipients get in touch with you. On the other hand, the details written on it can also help you determine and contact those people who can be instrumental to your success.

Your information then should include your name, company name and logo, as well as all the numbers (phone, fax, cell number, and toll-free numbers) and email address and website where your recipients can easily get in touch with you for their queries. The easier it would be for them to reach you, the more chances you have of convincing them to engage in business with you.

Include something extra that would appeal to your recipients. It is not just your contact information that would make your target clients attracted. What you also added as extra would make them want to keep them. This would include discounts, freebies, coupons, as well as any other call to action you can think of to put more value to your card.

Do not let the press run without checking your business card. Proofreading avoids mistakes that can cost you a lot. Ensure that your cards have the correct information before you have them printed because once you allowed the press to run you cannot turn back and order corrections to your marketing tool. You have to pay extra for reprints. So proofread, proofread, and proofread! If you can, have someone proofread after you. They would surely see something that you might have missed because you have been seeing the same words repeatedly.

Extend its function. Your cards are not just for your contact information. These small pieces of paper can also be a tool for your recipients to remember you. By providing a paper stock, you are allowing your recipients to take down notes about you and your business. In addition, they can also be your marketing tool to get people to come in your store for a freebie or discount.

Finally, the most basic thing you need to remember is to give them away every time you have the opportunity. Do not let them waste away in your holders or file cabinets. They are meant to be given away, not stored. You can only gain the results you want if you hand them out to as many target clients and prospects as you can.

The Basics in Business Card Etiquette

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

One thing you should not do with your business cards is to leave them sitting in the box that they came in when they are already delivered in your door. The objective of having them printed is to hand them out as soon as possible.

In fact, the faster you send them out, the better. Notwithstanding the fact if they were printed by an online business card printing company or a traditional one

Here are ideas on how you can get other people to see them:

1- Keep them nearby. Whether you put them in your pocket, your bag, your briefcase, and wallet or even on your desk, the purpose of the exercise is to keep them near you that every time there is an opportunity for you to network, you will be able to hand one out. Remember that every place and every person is a chance for you to introduce yourself, so never leave home without them.

2- Present a stylish and professional card. Always keep your cards in holders that would not be able to bend them. When you hand them out, it would be to your benefit if you do not give garbled and bent ones just because you were not in the right mind to buy a good holder. In addition, if you have your contact information change, be sure to have new ones printed right away.

3- Place them where they can be seen always. Think bulletin boards, church announcement boards, supermarket panels, in your shop, in the restaurant, in other people’s stores – the idea is to have your target clients to get as many of your business cards as possible.

4- Include them in all the bills and letters you have to send out. You will never know who will open your envelope. It would be another opportunity for you to network yourself and your business.

5- Use the back of your cards to jot down notes. Do not put your ideas on table napkins or scraps of paper. Writing down notes about the person you are talking to makes them feel important, hence, providing them a reason to keep it.

6- Give your target audience a reason to keep what you handed out. Put a discount, print a coupon, or write a calendar of activities at the back part.

One business etiquette that you have to remember though is to never force your cards to anyone. Make sure that you do it appropriately. Present them when the time is right and be sure to ask for their business cards as well when you are networking or meeting prospects.
