Network Marketing: Tip #2- Some Easy Steps to Professional looking and inexpensive Business Cards
Need more business cards for your network marketing business? Of course you do. But don’t order them from your MLM Company—those prices are marked up several times, and you will be paying much more than you need to.
Instead, do what many others have done: print your own at home, on your own computer and printer. Sounds complicated? It’s not at all—paper and stationery manufacturers have made the process simple to do.
First, purchase a package of blank business cards. These will come in 8-1/2 x 11 sheets, all in a package. The major manufacturer is Avery, but there are others. You can buy them at any office supply store, and your local warehouse club might have a deal on a larger package. Be sure to get the Clean Edge No Perforations style for a professional-looking card edge. You will also need to get the style made for your type of printer, in most cases an ink jet home printer.
Once you are home and ready to start, open Microsoft Word on your computer and start a new blank document. Be sure to save your file, and keep saving after each step.
Here we go:
Click on the Tools drop-down menu
Select Envelopes and Labels
Select Options
Scroll through the list and select your product’s number—it will also say “business cards.”
Now select New Document
Now you’ll see a new document with a grid pattern on your screen. This is your business card template document.
Adding a logo or photo:
Click on the Insert drop-down menu
Select Picture
Select From File
Choose the image you want to use from your files.
Select Insert
Now you’ll see your image in one of your blank business cards. But it’s probably not the size you want. No problem!
Sizing
Hold down the shift key and click on bottom right corner of your image. Stay clicked down and slide the corner in (or out) until your image is the size you want—this will change your image’s size while still maintaining its proportions.
Placing:
If you want to move your image to the top area of the card, press Enter a few times until positioned.
Type in your text along the bottom edge of the card.
Or, put a text box around the image (click on the image, click on the Insert drop-down menu, select Text Box) and the text will move to the right in a column.
Tip: Keep all text and images a smidgen away from the edge of card, otherwise you might have printing problems.
Now you will need to copy your created card into the rest of the boxes on your template sheet.
Click on the Table drop-down menu
Click on Select
Click Cell
Now you’ll see that your created card is highlighted, ready to copy.
Either right-click and select Copy, or click on the Copy icon in your toolbar.
Look at the upper left corner of your document. There you’ll see a tiny box with a little cross/directional sign inside. Click on this box, and your entire document will be highlighted.
Now either right-click and select Paste, or click on the Paste icon in your toolbar.
Go ahead and print now, although I would suggest doing a test print on a plain sheet of paper first, just to make sure everything is lined up correctly. Then put a sheet of business cards (make sure you know which side your printer will print on!), and print away!
Congratulations! You have now created a sheet of business cards, and all it took was a few minutes of your time.
